How Jojoba Oil Helped Me Say Goodbye to Acne

*NOTE: This sample blog is designed around a fictitious company to show you exactly how I would write about YOUR company.*

Jojoba saved my life.

If you suffer from:

  • Acne

  • Psoriasis

  • Hair loss

  • Dry skin

  • Dandruff

Keep reading, this is for YOU.

Let's go back to when I was a pre-teenager, around 8-9 years old. I struggled with acne, redness, irritation, and both dry and oily skin (yes, at the same time – if you know, you know).

I was pretty much the only one in my grade with that much acne on my face. Kids would pick on me, asking if I ever washed my face and why my skin looked like that.

It got to a point where I was ashamed of my appearance, especially at such a young age. I didn't understand why I had so many pimples and skin issues while my friends didn’t.

Every morning, I would wake up frustrated, looking at myself in the mirror.

I tried every face wash, moisturizer, exfoliant, scrub, and face mask I could find. I tried E.V.E.R.Y. S.I.N.G.L.E. product available at the store and everything my dermatologist suggested.

Because of the harsh chemicals in almost all of these products, I ended up burning my skin. When you've tried everything and nothing seems to work, you feel so powerless – especially at that age. Can you relate?

If, like me, you've tried it all and nothing seems to make that face glow… listen up. Because one day, I found the golden ingredient. This magical, smooth, and skin-saving oil: Jojoba Oil.

At Trésors de la Terre, a skincare brand, we make sure all of our ingredients come directly from Mother Earth without those added chemicals. We are dedicated to providing natural and effective products for your skin.

We have put together this amazing resource on why we use Jojoba oil in all of our products. Its natural properties make it an ideal ingredient for maintaining healthy and radiant skin.

What is Jojoba Oil?

Now, before we dive into this incredible, magical oil, let's say it correctly, we pronounce it: Ho-Ho-Ba oil. Ho-Ho-Yes! I didn't know either. ;)

Jojoba oil comes from the seed of the jojoba shrub found in the desert areas of the United States, most commonly Arizona. Although we call it an oil, it’s actually a liquid wax from a plant, so you can call it Jojoba wax if you’d like.

The History of Jojoba Oil

Let's learn a little bit of history. Back in the day, like waaay back, Native Americans used this pure and miracle oil to treat sores and wounds because of its antibacterial properties.

In the 1940s, it was used during the war to maintain machine guns and as an additive to motor oil, transmission oil, and other types of gear oil—whaaat? I know.

Now I put it on my face and think, not only did it help the soldiers with their machines back in the day, but now we use it for our skin?! Incredible, just incredible.

Why Use Jojoba Oil?

Jojoba oil saved my life. Okay, maybe not my life like it did for the soldiers in the 1940s, but it saved my sensitive skin at least.

Since I was using all kinds of different products that my doctor prescribed and those unnatural products you see on most store shelves, my skin barrier was messed up, and I knew I had to change something.

This is when I decided to do my own research on natural plants and herbs. After hours of research and an overload of information through Google and books, I found Jojoba oil and decided to give it a try because, hey, I had nothing to lose at this point.

After two weeks of applying it to my face twice a day, the magic happened.

My redness almost immediately went away, my skin felt well-hydrated and not greasy, and the irritation disappeared. I had never had so little acne in my entire life. SOMETHING FINALLY WORKED.

At Trésors de la Terre, we want to help you and your skin find solutions to your problems.

Our product, Rosée de Pureté, has helped thousands of people struggling with acne when they thought they had no other options. It is made with Jojoba oil, Tea Tree oil, and rose water—the best combination for inflamed and red skin.

4 Benefits: Why is Jojoba Oil the Best Oil?

Not only does Jojoba Oil fixed my damaged skin but it's known for being:

  1. An antioxidant: Antioxidants = anti-aging—OH yes! It treats those wrinkles and fine lines that nobody wants. It helps the skin with its elasticity and promotes younger-looking skin!

  2. An anti-inflammatory: Got sunburned or just irritated skin? Jojoba oil helps reduce swelling and pain from sun damage. When applied to your skin, it provides protection against UV rays and environmental pollutants.

  3. An antibacterial: Say goodbye to acne since it prevents the growth of bacteria. It can help dissolve blackheads and whiteheads that can eventually cause acne and inflammation due to the buildup of bacteria, oil, and dead skin cells.

  4. Full of vitamins and minerals: Our skin loooves Vitamin E, which promotes healing and helps restore the normal barrier function of your skin, especially if you suffer from psoriasis.

What's Different About Jojoba Oil Compared to Other Oils?

Jojoba oil is one of the best substances for mimicking your skin's natural oil—it’s similar to sebum. It is considered non comedogenic, which means it's not an oil that clogs your pores.

Additionally, it's an oil that never really goes bad. It has a shelf life of around 5 years if you keep it away from light and heat, and it can last even longer if you refrigerate it.

Jojoba oil is also odorless, so you can add it to any homemade products without worrying about a noticeable smell.

It's perfect for our product, Jojoba Relaxant, made with Jojoba oil and lavender oil.

This combination is great for killing those bacterias on your skin and is the best when you use it before bed. The soothing scent of lavender on your skin will help regulate your body and calm you for a good night's sleep.

How to Use Jojoba Oil

You can literally use Jojoba Oil in anything. Many natural companies use Jojoba oil as the base of every product. You can use Jojoba oil in lotions, moisturizers, hair shampoos and conditioners, hand soap, face wash, and even as a makeup remover.

Here are a few recipes you can easily make at home. Feel free to do your research; there are tons of great ideas out there!

Here are some recipes that are similar to our products:

Homemade Jojoba Face Wash

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp of organic Jojoba Oil

  • 2 tbsp of organic Aloe Vera

  • 1 tbsp of organic Rose Water

Mix the ingredients in a small bottle, and voila!
Note: Its lifespan in the bottle is about 1 month.

How to use it:

  1. Wash your face with warm water.

  2. Gently massage your face with the mix.

  3. Rinse your face with warm water.

  4. Dry your skin.

Or:

  1. Wash your face with warm water.

  2. Dry your skin.

  3. Apply it as a moisturizer.

Jojoba oil doesn't need to be washed off. Leaving it on will protect your skin from environmental pollutants and UV rays.

How often you can use it: In your morning and nighttime routine.

Homemade Jojoba Shampoo

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup of water

  • ¼ cup of castile soap (I use unscented, but it's your choice)

  • ½ teaspoon of organic Jojoba Oil

  • 10-15 drops of essential oils of your choice (e.g., orange, peppermint, eucalyptus, tea tree, lavender, rosemary, lime)

Mix all the ingredients and pour the mixture into an empty soap dispenser.

How often you can use it: When you wash your hair (I wash mine every 3-4 days since washing it every day causes overproduction of sebum and greasy hair more rapidly). It will help prevent itchy dandruff and can soothe psoriasis plaques on the scalp.

Homemade Jojoba Hand Soap

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons liquid castile soap

  • 2 tablespoons of organic Jojoba Oil

  • 5-10 drops of essential oils of your choice (my favorite mix is 5 drops of eucalyptus as an antibacterial, 2 drops of tea tree, and 2 drops of rose flower)

Mix all the ingredients in an empty foaming soap dispenser, add water to the top, and shake.

My skin doesn't get irritated after washing my hands, and knowing it is all made of natural ingredients makes my heart and soul happy :D

Homemade Sunburn Soothing Cream

Ingredients

  • Half organic Aloe Vera

  • Half organic Jojoba Oil

Mix it up in a bowl and apply it anywhere your skin needs it, and ta-da! Sleeping at night will be much more tolerable after a full day out under the sun.
